Chapter 9

1. Why do you think Jesus instructed His disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah? How might this have affected the way people viewed Him?

2. Read Jesus' definition of his followers in Luke 9:23-27. How could that have been a stumbling block for those listening? And according to Jesus' definition, what does being a follower look like in our everyday lives?

3. What might the presence of Moses, representing the Law (covenant), and Elijah, representing the Prophets, symbolize at the Transfiguration of Jesus? How might that reframe our understanding of the Gospel?
